Biophilic design: Hotel design that is dominated by flooring patterns inspired by nature. Stone-effect tiles in natural hues, wood-look LVP and LVT in organic tones, and even flooring designs inspired by natural landscapes are becoming more and more common. Even in urban settings, the objective is to design areas that have a sense of connection to the natural world.

Large-format tiles: In restaurants and hotel lobbies, oversized porcelain tiles measuring 24 by 48 inches or more are popular. A sleek, modern appearance is produced and maintenance is made easier by the less grout lines. The limits of what is feasible are being pushed by thin porcelain panels (3–6 mm thick in formats up to 5’x10″).

Mixed materials: To establish zones and provide visual interest, hotels are increasingly utilizing a variety of flooring materials in one area. A lobby may have carpet tile in the lounge area, wood-look LVP in the seating area, and stone in the center. This method uses each material where it works best while adding refinement to the design.

Heritage designs: Hotel flooring is seeing a significant resurgence of geometric patterns like herringbone and chevron. These patterns are now more affordable and accessible thanks to LVT, and the geometric intrigue gives public areas and guest rooms personality.

Sustainability: When choosing hotel flooring, environmental characteristics are becoming more and more significant. Products with low volatile organic compound emissions, cradle-to-cradle certification, and recycled material are favored. Additionally, several companies are working on carpet tile and LVT end-of-life recycling initiatives.
